Ready to Run Workshop Series Introduces North Carolina Women to What They Need to Know to Get Involved in Public Life

RALEIGH—The North Carolina Institute of Political Leadership (IOPL) is hosting Ready to Run® North Carolina, a non-partisan campaign training for women. Presenters with extensive campaign experience will introduce women to what they need to know to run for office, including choosing your office, building a campaign team, finance and fundraising, messaging and the media, helping with a campaign, and practical advice from former and current female candidates and elected officials.

Ready to Run® is a national network of nonpartisan campaign training programs committed to encouraging women to run for elective office, position themselves for appointive office, work on a campaign, or get involved in public life in other ways. North Carolina’s program follows the curriculum developed by the Center for American Women and Politics at Rutgers University.

“Research shows women in North Carolina, and all across the country, are disproportionately underrepresented in political office and on state and local boards and commissions; it’s time we change that,” said Women on Board Program Manager Jessica Holmes.
