RALEIGH, N.C. — Civic Voices, a new advocacy training for North Carolina nonprofit leaders, is launching this March through a partnership between the North Carolina Institute of Public Leadership (IOPL) and Leadership Triangle. The program is designed to equip nonprofit professionals with practical tools to engage policymakers, communicate effectively, and advocate for their mission.

The inaugural Civic Voices training will take place March 5 and 6, with sessions led by experienced practitioners in public policy, communications, and nonprofit leadership. The program is open to nonprofit leaders from across the state.

“Nonprofit leaders are on the front lines of some of North Carolina’s most pressing challenges, but might not have received formal training in how public policy works or how to advocate effectively,” said Brad Young, Executive Director of IOPL. “Civic Voices is about giving them practical tools to engage with elected officials, tell their story clearly, and advance their mission.”

“Every year, Leadership Triangle supports hundreds of nonprofit leaders across the region,” said Kristine Sloan, Executive Director of Leadership Triangle. “We know that increasing policy volatility and changes in funding streams have created an environment of uncertainty throughout the sector. Civic Voices is designed to equip organizations with the advocacy skills they need to stabilize operations, navigate change, and continue delivering meaningful impact in their communities.”

Civic Voices is supported by Fidelity Investments, the Jimmy Carroll Foundation, and partners committed to strengthening nonprofit leadership and civic engagement in North Carolina.
