Research & Intelligence Manager, NCFREE- Raleigh

The Research & Intelligence Manager is the analytical engine behind NCFREE’s flagship products. Working directly with the Executive Director, you’ll own the research that CEOs, donors, lawmakers, and chambers across North Carolina rely on to make decisions.
This is an early-career role with unusual upside. You’ll have real ownership over visible, high-stakes work — not a junior seat on someone else’s team. By the end of your first year, you should be running the majority of NCFREE’s flagship research outputs with confidence and delivering insights that land in front of the most consequential business and political audiences in the state.

Director of Government Affairs, John Locke Foundation- Raleigh

The John Locke Foundation seeks a Director of Government Affairs to lead the organization’s engagement with policymakers, legislative leaders, and key stakeholders across North Carolina government.

The Director of Government Affairs is a senior staff role responsible for developing and executing strategies to communicate Locke’s policy research and recommendations, build relationships with elected officials and agency leaders, and translate the organization’s work into meaningful policy impact.

Working closely with the CEO and senior leadership, as well as Locke’s scholars and communications team, the Director ensures that the organization’s policy ideas reach decision-makers and inform the public policy conversation. This role engages directly with legislative leadership, executive branch officials, and key stakeholders across North Carolina and serves as the organization’s primary bridge between Locke’s research and the policymakers shaping state policy.

The Director will be expected to build strong relationships with key policymakers, expand the reach and influence of Locke’s research, and contribute to meaningful policy outcomes across North Carolina.

This is one of the leading government affairs roles within North Carolina’s state-based policy community, offering the opportunity to directly shape the policy conversation at the highest levels of state government.

This position is based in Raleigh, North Carolina, with the option to work remotely up to two days per week.

Civic Impact Academy- Mecklenburg County

The Civic Impact Academy is a 12-week hybrid leadership program serving Mecklenburg County and surrounding communities. What makes the program unique is that it brings government leaders and community members together to learn, collaborate, and tackle civic challenges side by side.

Applications are open through July 31, with the program running September 9 through December 9, 2026.

Chief of Staff, Town of Holly Springs- Holly Springs

The Town of Holly Springs is searching for a Chief of Staff to serve in the Town Manager’s Office. The role’s core focus areas include organizational leadership, enterprise project management, operational excellence, and execution of strategic priorities. The role is responsible for coordinating departments, driving cross-functional initiatives, improving organizational performance, and ensuring accomplishment of the Town Manager’s and Council priorities. Stated another way, the position is a “chief implementation officer”—ensuring strategic initiatives are delivered, organizational change is managed effectively, and internal service/support departments operate effectively to advance public-facing public service departments’ business goals within appropriate policy and legal frameworks.

This position focuses on internal organizational excellence, while Assistant Town Managers lead operational departments, external public service delivery, and external stakeholder relationships. The Chief of Staff is a member of the Town Manager’s Executive Leadership team.
