NC IOPL Hometown Debates – Newton

October 24, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

In the fall of 2016, IOPL hosted our first Hometown Debate series with televised debates in Wilson (Lt. Governor), Asheboro (Attorney General), and Statesville (Treasurer). We felt it was important to ensure that North Carolina’s smaller cities and towns were brought into the conversation about these races and their issues addressed.

As this is not an election year for statewide offices, we’ve decided to choose a singular topic and host three debates, again in our smaller communities. We will be focusing on three questions regarding NC’s public education system.

Tuesday, October 24th

Old Post Office Playhouse – Newton, NC

Should performance play more of a role in North Carolina teacher compensation?
Panelists:

  • Matt Ellinwood, NC Justice Center
  • Terry Stoops, John Locke Foundation
  • NC State Representative, Craig Horn
  • NC State Representative, Susan Fisher

All debates begin at 7:00 p.m. with the doors opening at 6:30 p.m.
